This ticket includes a four-course meal, a toast, and a truly unique and delicious experience. Proceeds will benefit the Dubuque Rescue Mission greenhouse project. Limited tickets available!! Must purchase by September 13th!

What?
This fall is the second annual Driftless Farm to Table Dinner, where delicious food from local farms will be artfully prepared by Tri-state area chefs, highlighting our rich local food culture. Among our goals is to explore new and interesting ways to connect people to food and community. This dinner will be a one night only, family-style, four course creation based on what’s ripe and good from our farmers’ fields.

Why?
This dinner will benefit two vital organizations in our community: Four Mounds Garden and the Dubuque Rescue Mission.  We are particularly excited about this model of fundraising; we feel it connects people to food and farms through a tangible, creative and inspiring process. The food will be superb, of course, and the experience truly magic, but our motivation is not profit driven. Our goal is to make our farms and food better through the support of our community. This dinner enables you to uplift local farms with a wine glass in place of a spade.

Benefit Project at Four Mounds: Fencing for the Kitchen Garden

Located in its historic location, the kitchen garden was reintroduced to Four Mounds about 5 years ago. It supplies herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables for our Inn. For five decades, the historic kitchen garden was free of deer– at a time when Iowa was rural and its citizens had culled the land of its deer population. But starting again in the 1960s, deer have populated Iowa and our local deer have had a feast since we brought back the kitchen garden. An aesthetically pleasing fence that is appropriate to historic Four Mounds will help us make this garden more functional.

The garden is also the location of a service learning project where we work with youth from our Mound Bound program, serving some of our community’s most at-risk teens. Mound Bound focuses on teaching young people healthy mind and body practices through expeditionary learning. We couple food literacy, service in our gardens and chicken house, and cooking classes in our inn to provide hands-on learning opportunities around healthy and local foods. Students are invited to take home garden care packages after learning to prepare foods at our inn.

Benefit Project at the Dubuque Rescue Mission

The Dubuque Rescue Mission works tirelessly to connect homeless adults to fresh, local and sustainable food sources. Proceeds from the night’s silent auction sales with directly support the creation of the Dubuque Rescue Mission’s greenhouse project.

Where?
Dinners is held outdoors at tables under a tent overlooking the majestic Mississippi River. You will enjoy the freshest possible fare and sip on local beer and wine, with a lovely view of the historic estate, bluffs and river.

When?
4:00pm – Guests will arrive at the estate to mingle, enjoy local music and breathe in the fresh, scenic air. Feel free to dress casually and wear comfortable shoes. Sip on local libations and take in the scene.
4:30pm – We introduce our host site, Four Mounds Foundation. Who they are, and what they are all about. We will also introduce and thank the farms that donated or discounted their farm product for this meal.
4:45pm – We will gather back at the harvest tables to enjoy good company and begin our feast! During this time you will also get a chance to meet the chefs, and they will talk a bit about the courses they have prepared for you and their connection to locally produced foods.
5:00pm – Cheers! The rest of the courses will follow from here. Take your time and enjoy your meal. After all, it’s a one night only seasonal dinner prepared with love.
