HARVEST FEST 

FARM TOURS, FOOD, & MORE!

1:00-4:00 PM at Sinsinawa Collaborative Farm – Come to the opening celebration of the Collaborative Farm at Sinsinawa Mound!  A great opportunity to meet our eight beginning farmers growing organic vegetables on six different plots. We’ll have a ribbon-cutting and blessing of the land at 1 PM, followed by fun activities for kids and farm tours for those wanting to see how beginning farmers are getting their part-time farm business off the ground! There will also be an opportunity to purchase produce directly from the farmers.

DRIFTLESS FARM TO TABLE DINNER 

FOUR-COURSE DINNER  

5:00PM at Convivium Urban Farmstead
Reserve your spot today!  A celebration of local farms, food and community at Convivium.  This four-course family-style meal showcases the season’s best ingredients sourced from local farms, artfully prepared by local chefs, and served with local beer and wine at the inspiring urban farmstead.   Life’s A Feast, Convivium Urban Farmstead, Brazen, and Millwork Bakery will each prepare one of four courses, highlighting local farmers and producers.  Tickets: $65/each, with limited seating available.

SATURDAY SEPT. 23 1:00-3:00 PM                                                                                    Dubuque Rescue Mission – Tour this thriving urban garden right in the heart of Dubuque.

SUNDAY SEPT. 24 1:00-5:00 PM                                                                                                       O’Connell Organic Acres- Enjoy a slice of tranquility at this organic livestock farm overlooking the bluffs of Dubuque County. Hay rack rides leave at 2 PM & 4 PM.

“LOOK & SEE: A Portrait of Wendell Berry”

FILM SCREENING ON WENDELL BERRY

6:30 PM at Sinsinawa Mound – “Look & See,” is a powerful cinematic portrait of Wendell Berry – farmer, activist, and undoubtedly one of America’s most significant living agricultural writers. Over the past 50 years, Berry has movingly engaged issues of land place, agriculture and economy, and war and peace. Following the film, we’ll have a panel of local farmers and rural activists.

FARM TO INSTITUTION WORKSHOP

EDUCATIONAL CONNECTIONS TO FURTHER LOCAL FOOD

10:00 AM-3:00 PM at Sinsinawa Mound- an educational workshop for farmers and businesses passionate about producing and purchasing local food


FARM TO SCHOOL 2017

farm to schoolThis year the Dubuque Eats Well Coalition is teaming up with Dubuque Community School District & Western Dubuque School District for Farm to School Month!   In addition to eating locally produced food in the classroom, this year’s farm to school activities will feature special classroom programs that will help the next generation understand the role of agriculture in supporting health, natural resources, and rural economies through school gardens, school lunch, and classroom activities.
