A great opportunity to meet our eight beginning farmers growing organic vegetables on six different plots. We’ll have a ribbon-cutting and blessing of the land at 1 PM, followed by fun activities for kids and farm tours for those wanting to see how beginning farmers are getting their part-time farm business off the ground! There will also be an opportunity to purchase produce directly from the farmers.

6:30 PM at Sinsinawa Mound – “Look & See,” is a powerful cinematic portrait of Wendell Berry – farmer, activist, and undoubtedly one of America’s most significant living agricultural writers. Over the past 50 years, Berry has movingly engaged issues of land place, agriculture and economy, and war and peace. Following the film, we’ll have a panel of local farmers and rural activists.

This year the Dubuque Eats Well Coalition is teaming up with Dubuque Community School District & Western Dubuque School District for Farm to SchoolMonth! In addition to eating locally produced food in the classroom, this year’s farm to school activities will feature special classroom programs that will help the next generation understand the role of agriculture in supporting health, natural resources, and rural economies through school gardens, school lunch, and classroom activities.
