The Dubuque Rescue Mission Farm is part of a community offering hospitality, spiritual hope, shelter, clothing, job development and food to those in need. Located a block from the Mission’s emergency shelter, produce grown at the farm is sent to the Mission kitchen where it’s integrated into the largest free meal program in the area. DRM also regularly welcomes community and school groups to learn about urban food production.
- Tour the Mission greenhouse & gardens including hydroponics, microgreens, laying hens, and mushroom production.
- Learn about emerging job development & work exchange programs for residents of the Mission both on-site and at the Mission’s sister site, New Hope Catholic Worker Farm in LaMotte, IA.
- FOR KIDS: Make Clay Seed Bombs & learn about exploratory learning opportunities for elementary school students & community groups throughout the year.
- Pan con Tomate – Sample what spanish children eat at school for breakfast! Halves small tomatoes, smushed across a toasted crusty bread, and drizzled with olive oil. Garnished with salt and herbs.
